Engine light gone!
I have a 2003 GMC Sierra which was giving me Purge/Vent valve code so i paid a mechanic to service it. He replaced my gas cap and purge valve but the light came back hours later. My Supervisor at my job always blogs vehicle maintenance forums and told me about the common problem with the vent valve concerning its location and lack of filter. I had to educate myself about the whole emission scam in Indiana where I live in one of the only two counties that require testing even though Indianapolis has a greater pollution rate and doesn't test. Ok sorry for the rant. I feel better now. Anyway, when I found out what part is needed I went to the local GM parts store paying $200+ for this so-called kit. My Supervisor told me to ask for the Suburban because, for some reason, it's the same kit but $50 cheaper. Of course the guys at the parts store say something like, "Well, when we put in your VIN this is what comes up" whatever...I eventually returned the part and ordered this one here on...

Great part and price. New and improved design.
Well, I thought at first that they sent me the wrong part. However, you need to do some digging on the internet to find out that they changed the design a few years ago. The old one is just one piece, while the new one is made out of two different pieces. You'll need a few feet of 5/8" hose (about 7-8) since one of the pieces needs to be above the fuel tank and the other above the transmission.

Anyway, the price is great (it is at least twice more expensive at any parts store). Changed it with ACDelco 214-646 Vapor Canister Purge Valve to clear a P0449 code in my 2000 Silverado. Recommended.
Takes away check engine light.
This product was reasonably priced, easy to install, and did what it was supposed to do. My check engine light is now off, and truck works good.
