This actuator works great.
After the thermal type 4WD actuator in my 1994 K3500 GMC pickup failed, I decided to try this motorized type. The only problem is that it doesn't plug directly into the older type wiring harnesses - you also need to buy a separate harness because this actuator requires another 12 volt hot lead. The older thermal actuators had power to them in 4WD mode, then released with power was discontinued. These actuators are a motor which requires power in both directions.
After checking with my local GM dealers, these actuators were about $150 or more, plus the new wiring harness was another $80! This was way too expensive. I found this Dorman actuator was locally about $110, but the amazon price was down near $60 for the same exact part - what a bargain!
Unfortunately amazon didn't have the wiring harness, but I was able to find one on ebay, new for only $35. So now I have a reliable 4WD system and it only cost about a hundred bucks. It was a good investment.

600-101 4wh actuator
I bought this acuator here off Amazon for my 97 K2500 WORKS so much better than the thermal actuator that Chevy made OEM.. Now I have 4wd when I want it not when it is warm. I did have to buy the new harness because it adds a hot wire from the transfer case sw.
but hey I got all this for under 100.00 bucks

Dorman 600-101 4wd actuator
WOW. What a difference. Forget the thermo type.
I was in New Mexico on a ski trip and needed my 4wd. No 4wd, too cold.
I got out with help from other people. One of them told me about this upgrade.
This is what you want. It ingages as soon as you put it in 4wd. no waiting,
no it's too cold. It just works when you need it. Ease install.
You will need to get the wiring harnes for it but thats okay.
This is how OEM should have made it in the first place.
It has been several years now and no problems with the unit.
I waited until now to write a review because I wanted to make sure it could stand up to the task.
One of the best upgrades I have done for my truck.
